On January 3, 2008 we officially launched

On March 3, 2010 The State of California officially endorsed
The Prep n' Generals Alumni Association
as a Unincorporated NonProfit Association
Alumni from Washington Preparatory High School have come together to perform our duties of giving back to our alma mater.
OUR GOALS INCLUDE:
1) Fundraising: Scholarships with Criteria for different academic levels, alumni events i.e. Fashion shows/Star Search, Booster Club Networking. Direct Donations from alumni will be essential to our success.
2) Community Involvement: Need Fundraising from neighborhood and business sponsorship, Community partnerships offering publicity and advertisement, Advertise to Community via flyer's, Internet etc, Alumni shirts/jackets to show community pride
3) Morale for Students: Pep Rallies, College Acceptances announced and posted, strictly alumni Career Day, Assembly where alumni share their story, Obama/King Symposium, Respect for the "W", Club/Organizations, Slide shows/Old WPHS Memories, McKenna/McKenna Story
4) Morale for Staff: Challenge Staff, Introduce history, Breakfast with motivational Speaker, Incentives for students (dances), Staff Idol/Apollo, Suggestion Box, Inspirations Quotes
5) Campus Beautification: Beautification Day, Motivational quotes and deco on the walls, Displaying Student Artwork, Pictures of prominent Black and Brown personalities, Creating a relationship, building ties and being committed
6) Introducing Prep n' Generals: Principals breakfast, Booster Clubs, Open Forum, Suggestion Box, Self Awareness/Self Esteem, Mailers to students, Alumni Blog/Internet Link
7) Mentoring Programs (to include Career day): Sponsor a Student, Sponsor a Club, Peer counseling, Career day, College Mentoring, Moving students from the Probation office to the College Office, Exit Exam Prep, Vocational/Trade School Prep, Foster care mentoring, Probation and Self Esteem Mentoring
8) Volunteer Work: Morning and Passing Periods Tardiness, In-Class participation, Encourage parent participation, College Office, Booster Club, Sports events, Chaperone Dances, and Committee participation
As you can see there are a lot of things to tackle, but it's important that we start small and not to set unreachable goals, to prevent burnout.
The most pressing topic is how we begin to protect the "W" from being walking on. Currently, students have no pride for the āWā and what it stands for. Suggestions are welcomed.
